Anchors Aweigh Club Tournament Rules

REGISTRATION

All boats and anglers must be registered and entry fees paid to qualify for prizes. Any boat may be substituted prior to the tournament but must be registered with the tournament committee prior to fishing.

CAPTAINS MEETING

At least one person from each boat should attend and are responsible for knowing the rules including any changes that will be announced at the captains meeting on Friday evening, 7:00 P.M. at a location to be determined.

FISHING TIMES

7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. - No lines or teasers in the water prior to 7:00 A.M. Any fish hooked prior to 3:00 P.M. may be played until boated, but the hook-up must be reported to a committee boat before 3:00 P.M. The fish must reach the weigh in dock by 4:00 P.M.

WEIGH IN

2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Garrison Bight Marina. Fish may be brought by boat or motor vehicle. Scales will close precisely at 4:00 P.M. (Verizon time).

Winning fish in each category, Dolphin, Wahoo, Grouper (Black or Gag or Red) and Snapper ( Yellowtail or Mutton or Mangrove or Lane) will be determined by heaviest weight. In the event of a tie, the fish that was weighed in earliest will be the winner.

REGULATIONS

It is the captains' and anglers' responsibility to know all federal and state regulations including current size and bag limits and circle hook requirements. All anglers must meet current federal and state licensing requirements.

COMMUNICATIONS

Tournament channel is VHF 72.

ROD AND REEL RULES

This is a rod and reel, hook and line tournament. The following practices are illegal in this tournament: (a) Use of handline or rope attached to the line or leader. (b) Spearing, harpooning, or shooting a fish. (c) Participants may not transfer fish from one boat to another.

PRIZES

There will be a first and second prize for each category of fish determined by weight. In the event that no qualifying fish are caught in a category(s) that money will be put into the pool for other categories. In the event that no qualifying fish are caught in any category, winners will be drawn for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th prizes at the awards ceremony following the tournament.

Offshore Division - Dolphin and Wahoo
Heaviest Dolphin $1,000 Prize!
Inshore Division - Grouper (Black, Gag, Red) and Snapper (Yellowtail, Mutton, Mangrove, Lane)
NEW this Year! - Heaviest overall fish caught by a lady angler!


AWARDS CEREMONY

There will be an awards ceremony and picnic held at 6:30 P.M. on the day of the tournament at a location to be announced at the captain's meeting.

CHECK-IN

We ask all boats to check in following the tournament. This is a safety concern as we want to know that all participants are back safely. Check-in on VHF 72 or by phone (305) 509-7244.
